TOURNAMENT RULES

Teams must register at least a half hour prior to their first game. They are to present their roster with either a players pass or birth certificate for each player.

Roster size:
Five players is the ideal team size. Teams will be accepted with 4.

Tournament Equipment:
All players must wear protective shinguards. There are no exceptions. The U9 bracket will play with a size 3 ball, U10-U12 a size 4 ball, and U13 and higer will play with a size 5 ball.

Substitution:
Unlimited substitution. The player leaving the field can step off the field at the nearest point to allow for quick substitution. The player leaving the field must be off the field before the new player steps onto the field. The honor system is in effect. Please do not try to gain an unfair advantage in your substitution.

Time of game:
Running clock of 22 minutes. No injury time. No half time break unless there is a decided wind advantage. If, due to injury, a game lasts less than 12 minutes, we will make every attempt to replay the game or finish the lost time. This is done in the spirit of good sportsmanship. Although both coaches will be consulted, the decision of the Upper Township Soccer club representative is final.

Goals and Off sides:
Goals can be scored only on your offensive end of the field. There is no off sides .

Restarts:
Kick ins. No throw ins. All restarts are indirect (you can’t score on a restart). The team with the ball may request a 5 yard courtesy zone on restarts.

Goalkeeper:
No goalkeeper. There is a two yard diameter area around each goal. Offensive players cannot score from inside this area, defensive players cannot defend in this area. If a defensive player defends in this area, a goal will be awarded to the other team. If the ball comes to rest in this area, the defensive team will be awarded a kick.

Fouls:
Most fouls will be treated as restarts (indirect). In the event the referee determines that a deliberate foul has occurred in the offensive end, then he shall have the option of awarding a direct kick from that spot on the field. No player from the opposing team is allowed goal-side of the ball (in effect, a free shot on goal).

Coaches do not need to be carded.

A written roster of your players will be required at check in approximately one half hour before your first game.

No numbers are needed on your uniforms. Boys should bring 2 sets of shirts (one white, one colored). Alternates will be provided for the girls at the fields but you are encouraged to bring your own if you have them.
